A Very Exciting Announcement…and an Invitation!

July 13, 2019

I am SUPER excited to announce the Made to Mother™ book is publishing on Mother’s Day, 2020!

Coming off the high of self-publishing my first book, I started the Made to Mother™ Project in 2013 with a dream to connect mothers across the motherhood spectrum, chronicle their stories, and write a well-researched manuscript. At the time it felt like such an easy task. It was the age of the mommy blogger, Facebook was at its peak, and I felt like I was at the top of the world. But reality and time have a way of humbling us like nothing else.

Don’t get me wrong here, I have gotten some phenomenal stories over the past six years, met a ton of cool people, and learned A LOT! I’ve built a steady social media profile and I still love what I do on this little corner of the world wide wacky web. I am absolutely grateful for those of you who have courageously shared your heart on Made to Mother™, and even more so for those who have kindly allowed me to publish your voices in this book. I could not have made this happen without your beautiful, inspiring words, and your willingness to share your unique accounts of real motherhood!

Flash forward a couple years…I also found some great nuggets of research to support the biological and divine calling of motherhood, and I remained passionate about my topic. However, when it came time to start pitching agents and publishers, the enthusiasm came to an abrupt halt, and with it my confidence in myself as a writer dropped. I couldn’t find the right fit in a partner passionate enough in the project to help me publish the book, so I stepped away from it for awhile.

As the Made to Mother™ Project slowed down, life in other areas sped up…we sold and bought houses, our family moved, we started a business, the children’s activities increased, and new job prospects kept me busy elsewhere. Made to Mother™ continued to grow on social media, and I maintained the blog, but the manuscript started to gather dust.

This past spring, two years after first pursuing publication options, I decided to take a second look at the book to see if I was still passionate enough to keep looking for a publisher or self-publish again. Being the Type A/controlling person I am, I have a hard time trashing a project or leaving something half done before moving on to something else. I reread the first few chapters I had put together for the book proposal, and I just couldn’t let it go. I truly believe there is a good message here, and I want to honor those who have shared their vulnerable stories. So, I picked up the project with renewed vigor and am excited to release the full book in 2020!

Made to Mother™ is an in-depth look at the divine and biological link between femininity and motherhood using real stories from real mothers to illustrate the diversity of what I like to call “The Motherhood Spectrum.” All the stories I’m using in the book have been published over the years here on the blog. I hope you will stay tuned to more updates on pre-orders and launch in early 2020! I’m gonna need a launch team, so please keep checking back for updates!

In the meantime, I am also still accepting ALL stories of motherhood to be posted on the blog here. If you have any story of motherhood you would like to share, you can always email me as well!
